The scenery shifts dramatically after the village, as a dry-stone path winds down the mountainside toward the Clue de la Melle. Here, the atmosphere becomes mineral and austere. In this barren grazing land, you navigate between monumental boulders, fording streams on forgotten ancient trails. A profound sense of solitude—of being "alone in the world"—takes over as you traverse this old, stony road. The landscape turns green once more as you pass above the Riou d’Ourgeas gorges. An authentic wrought-iron guardrail, a silent witness to the passing centuries, lines this suspended path.

The stage concludes in Barrême, a historic crossroads on the Route Napoléon. Famous for its fossil beds, the village has left a lasting mark on Earth's history by giving its name to the Barremian, a specific age of the Lower Cretaceous period.
